Core values

Melissa is committed to:

Melissa believes in a holistic approach to health that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit. She understands that true wellness extends beyond physical fitness and nutrition. Her commitment is to foster self-awareness, self-regulation, and self-compassion, guiding individuals to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Melissa supports clients in managing stress and embracing a balanced lifestyle, recognising that true health involves continuous self-care, reflection, and growth.

Melissa is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and self-improvement. Embracing the journey of mastery means focusing on growth and learning rather than perfection. She encourages clients to focus on the process, not just the outcome, and to view mistakes as valuable learning experiences.

Melissa values authenticity and creates a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can be their true selves. She understands the importance of embracing one’s authentic identity and believes in fostering genuine connections that allow for personal growth and self-acceptance. Melissa’s telehealth psychology approach emphasises self-reflection and compassion, supporting clients on their journey toward living authentically.

Melissa champions the importance of courage and vulnerability in personal growth at Thriving Psychology. Embracing the discomfort of uncertainty and emotional exposure is key to overcoming obstacles and achieving personal goals. She supports clients in facing their fears and taking risks, encouraging them to live in alignment with their values instead of being guided by the fear of failure.

Building meaningful connections and contributing to the well-being of others are central to Melissa’s practice at Thriving Psychology. She values teamwork and collaboration, understanding that positive relationships enhance both personal and professional growth.

Driven by a deep desire to understand and explore, Melissa embraces curiosity as a fundamental value. She is committed to learning from diverse perspectives and discovering new ways to support her clients. This curiosity fuels her passion for helping individuals thrive and reinforces her belief in the value of ongoing learning and growth.

Dr Melissa Moore

Dr Melissa Moore Psychologist
Melissa Moore is a psychologist with sport and exercise endorsement who brings a holistic, humanistic, and strength-based approach to her practice at Thriving Psychology. Guided by the belief that therapy should be as unique as the individual, she works with the person first, creating a space that is warm, non-judgemental, and empowering.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and collaboration, and informed by a non-pathologising, values-guided philosophy. Melissa works from a whole-person lens, attending to nervous system regulation, psychological flexibility, and relational functioning as key foundations for sustainable mental health and performance.

Her work integrates evidence-based approaches — including polyvagal-informed and somatic practices, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, cognitive and behavioural strategies, Motivational Interviewing, and the Gottman Method. These are applied flexibly, depending on the person, their context, and what is most helpful in the moment.

A pracademic at heart, Melissa blends practical experience with academic expertise. She holds a PhD in exercise and health psychology and has nearly a decade of research experience focused on health, wellbeing, and behaviour change. She also has over ten years of experience coordinating and teaching tertiary subjects in mental health, wellbeing, and performance. Her applied work spans clinical settings, elite and youth sport, and recreational environments, where she supports people to create meaningful, sustainable change in their lives.
